Running your business no matter the size and scope of it can prove to be a daunting task at times.
You have to do all you can to make matters work on your end. That said do you have some or even a lot of concern to what the competition is up to.
With that in mind, do you see what your competitors do on a regular basis? If so, are you the least bit worried?
Turning a blind eye to the competition can leave you in a precarious spot.
Stocking Your Auto Garage for Success
Let’s say you run an auto garage. Given this, your primary focus is on repairing cars and trucks.
While you might be doing a good job with the work you do, what if the competition is even better at it? Could you survive getting by while your competitors drive forward with more business?
It does not hurt to take the time to see what competitors are doing to secure business of their own.
For instance, are they doing a better job of working with the right vendors to secure the best in fluorocarbons and other necessary items for engines?
Whether you do not have top-of-the-line Viton elastomers or other accessories, get them.
Keep in mind that the proper seals must deal with harsh temperature swings. From bitter cold to extreme heat, the seals are but one of the accessories needed to keep an engine flowing. So, do you have all the right parts when a customer brings their vehicle in for work?
Remember, while engine work is often the main reason one brings a vehicle in, there are other needs to meet.
Take stock of all the reasons one would come to your garage in the first place. When you do, you are better prepared to meet their needs.
Could Competitors Be Winning the Public Relations Battle?
When you compete with other similar businesses, there is usually not much of a margin for error.
That said you want to be sure you are winning the public relations battle with them or at least keeping pace. This is even more of a necessity when you are a startup in the auto repair business or any business for that matter.
Among the ways to go about this:
· Marketing – Be aware of how other businesses in your industry go about marketing. You may be missing out on some tactics that could serve you well.
· Social media – Don’t drop the ball by being inactive on social networking sites. Given the popularity of social media, you’d be foolish not to take action. Two of the better sites for you would be Facebook and Instagram. The former is the leader in social media with more than a billion users. As such, it is a great conversational social tool. With Instagram, you can use imagery to show the different kinds of repairs your auto garage does.
When you see what the competition is doing, does it drive you to be better?
